Descriptive Lines
How many types of lines are there? Thick lines, thin lines, wispy lines, geometric lines, jittery lines, confident lines, etc. While a line can see like a very simple even restrictive element of visual grammar, it is precisely this restriction that allows us to experiment in some many subtle but divergent ways. In particular, this post is about using different types of lines to describe different types of things. "Descriptive lines tell us more about a subject. They help make a shape look more like a three-dimensional object by showing light, shade and texture." [source] See if any of these examples of Descriptive Lines can help you boost the visual dynamism and range of your drawings. I chose a very small handful of artists and cropped details from their prints. The artists were Rembrant, Durer, Crispijn de Passe the Elder, and Whistler.
