Karl Anton Fleck
Karl Anton FLECK was born in Vienna in 1928. He originally completed an apprenticeship in the graphic arts industry as a gravure retoucher, but studied at the Institute for Jazz Music at the same time. He spent the years 1953 to 1958 in Sweden. After his return he became a member of the Vienna Secession and a member or vice-president of the artist group “Der Kreis”. In 1973 he was awarded the Theodor Körner Prize. This was followed by participation in exhibitions at the Vienna Künstlerhaus “Der Mensch und die Stadt” and at the Vienna Secession “Die Bahn heute” (First Prize). In 1979 he was awarded the title of professor. In 1980 he was awarded the City of Vienna Prize for Graphic Art. Fleck captured many of his friends and fellow artists in large-format drawings, as well as creating extremely striking landscapes and watercolors.
