Paul Noble: Axonometric Architecture
This post features the work of British artist Paul Noble. Drawing is his primary medium and he often works in graphite on paper. Some of the drawings are intimately scaled while others are quite large. He does not use linear perspective to render these architectural scenes. Instead he opts for an axonometric style of drawing where the parallel lines of the architecture never converge. This creates a cohesive logic for his playful environments to unfold (that's a paper pun). Instead of being dry technical drawings, he warms the space with tone and witty and surreal subject matter. The devil is in the details.
Special thanks to the blogs where many of these images have been cobbled together from including Door of Perception, But Does It Float, and Art Vista. Their posts include additional content not seen here and I recommend giving them a visit.
