BBC Art Documentaries

These are a bit older at this point but still worth revisiting. If you want a couple charismatic English tour guides for your art history session who are not afraid to veer into the more checkered aspects of the artists' lives or times, please take look at some of Simon Shama's or Andrew Graham Dixon's documentaries from the BBC. I offer two here merely as an introduction. Art history should be captivating and the lecturer should be able to bring these artists to life before our eyes - make us feel their energy and relevance. The first video above is a documentary on Caravaggio from Shama's "The Power of Art" series and the one below is an excerpt from Dixon's "The Medici." Enjoy!
