Matthew Ritchie: Vector Flexibility

Matthew Ritchie creates sculpture and wall drawings that come into being, at least in the examples in the video below, with the power of Adobe Illustrator. His vector files, consisting of points and paths, can be infinitely scaled, reordered, and projected for tracing onto a wall or the same points and paths can be cut out of metal with a water-jet and made into the structural forms you see him locking into place in the video. The work pivots on his aesthetic decisions and creativity but the production of the forms is greatly assisted by the flexibility of vector files.
